These sessions are usually one hour. With
children the therapist will often meet with the
parents first to discuss problems at home or
progress the child is making. The cost of
these sessions vary. A&M Counseling does
take some insurance. You may also want to
contact your insurance company ahead of
time to determine if your counseling will be
paid for or if you have to pay a co-pay.
* keep in mind that often times counseling
provokes emotion and change, which is
typically followed by an adjustment period.
This counseling is for men and women that
have been court ordered to therapy to
address issues with violence and anger
management. This therapy is a group format
and meets once a week for two hours. Men
and women are in separate groups. The
duration of the group varies and depends on
the number of weeks the court has ordered.
The cost is on a sliding scale fee and is
based on your income.
* You must complete an intake session prior
to attending the group.
*Clients that have not been court ordered may
also attend.
* Clients that complete the domestic violence
program can also attend follow-up couples
counseling at a reduced rate.
* Individual counseling for victims is also
available.
* Substance abuse counseling also available.
This counseling is for couples that have
difficulty with communication, conflict
resolution, trust and intimacy. Initially
sessions are usually 90 minutes long
because the therapist will spend time with
each person individually first then together.
These initial sessions cost more than the
hour long individual sessions. As therapy
progresses the couple can be seen for a
one hour session.
Couples may not attend this therapy if they
have been violent with each other within the
past 6 months.
