We offer counseling in several different formats.
Individual Counseling
Individual sessions are typically 50 minutes. While counseling children the therapist will often meet with the parents to discuss concerns or changes the child is making. A&M Counseling accepts most health insurances and employee assistance programs. We suggest you contact your insurance company prior to scheduling to determine your mental health benefits.
Keep in mind counseling often provokes emotion and change, which is typically followed by an adjustment period.
Domestic Violence Counseling
This counseling is for men and women that have been court ordered to therapy to address issues with violence and anger management. This is a group format and meets once a week for two hours. Men and women are in separate groups. The duration of the group varies and depends on the number of weeks the court has ordered. The cost is on a sliding scale fee based on your income.
You must complete an intake session prior to attending the group.
- Clients that have not been court ordered may also attend.
Clients that complete the Domestic Violence Program can also attend follow-up couples counseling at a reduced rate.
- Individual counseling for victims is also available.
Substance Abuse Counseling
This counseling will assist people in recognizing how their use of drugs or alcohol is affecting their and their loved ones lives. Substance abuse is a chronic problem with a constant threat of relapse. We teach the necessary skills and provide the support to maintain sobriety. Although group therapy is an important tool, our treatment is highly individualized. People become addicted for different reasons and the tools to maintain sobriety vary between individuals.Marital/Couples Counseling
The therapist addresses difficulty with communication, conflict resolution, trust and intimacy. We can bill most insurances for couples counseling.Couples may not attend this therapy if they have been violent with each other within the past 6 months.
